SIS30315 | Certificate III in Fitness

Course overview:
The Certificate III in Fitness is your entry level to work in the fitness industry.
This qualification reflects the role of instructors who perform a range of activities and functions within the fitness industry. Depending on the specialisation chosen, this qualification provides a pathway to work as an instructor providing exercise instruction for group, aqua or gym programs.
YMCA Education and Training deliver the Certificate III in Fitness as a Fee-for-service (FFS), VET in Schools Program (VETiS), or Traineeship enrolment.
Course duration:
12 months
Entry requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, an appropriate level of language literacy and numeracy skills is required.
Pathways:
Upon completion of the Certificate III in Fitness, students are eligible to enrol into the Certificate IV in Fitness to become a qualified Personal Trainer.

- A non-refundable administration fee of $250 is due at time of enrolment (enrolment fee is inclusive of total course fees).

- Course fees include all resources and materials, ongoing tutorial support and practical workshops
- Course fees include the delivery of CPR (HLTAID001) and Apply First Aid (HLTAID003) by YMCA. Distance students (outside of Brisbane) can seek an anternative provider and be reimbursed up to $120.

SIS40215 | Certificate IV in Fitness

Course overview:
This qualification reflects the role of a Personal Trainer (PT). PT's have specialist skills to train individual clients, or groups of clients, on a one-on-one or group basis, to improve health-related components of fitness in relatively low risk situations. This may include training of older clients and children.
This qualification provides substantial depth of knowledge to plan, conduct and evaluate exercise training and provide leadership and guidance to clients. PT's play a crucial role in the health of individuals and require knowledge to refer the client to an appropriate medical or allied health professional. This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diversity of fitness industry businesses including fitness centres, gyms, aquatic facilities, community facilities and in open spaces.
YMCA Education and Training deliver the Certificate IV in Fitness as a Fee-for-service (FFS) enrolment.

12 months
Entry requirements:
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who hold a current first aid and CPR certificate and have been recognised as competent through a recognised training program or recognition process against the following units of competency:
SISFFIT001 Provide health screening and fitness orientation
SISFFIT002 Recognise and apply exercise considerations for specific populations
SISFFIT003 Instruct fitness programs
SISFFIT004 Incorporate anatomy and physiology principles into fitness programming
SISFFIT005 Provide healthy eating information
SISFFIT006 Conduct fitness appraisals
SISFFIT014 Instruct exercise to older clients
SISXCCS001 Provide quality service
An appropriate level of language literacy and numeracy skills is also required.
Pathways:
Upon completion of the Certificate IV in Fitness, students are eligible to enrol into the Diploma of Fitness to become an Advanced Personal Trainer or Personal Training Manager.
